Reformer Pilates Overview

Reformer Pilates is a popular form of exercise that uses a special apparatus called a Pilates reformer to enhance the practice of Pilates. Reformer Pilates offers a wide range of benefits for people of all ages and fitness levels. I write this in order to provide an overview of reformer Pilates exercise, including its benefits, equipment, and how it works with the body.

The Reformer Pilates machines is the most famous of all the Pilates equipment due to its versatility and huge benefits, such as; increasing cardio fitness with the use of the jump board, improving posture, aiding injury rehabilitation, full body workout which lengthens and strengthens the muscles whilst achieving full range of motion. 

The reformers Pilates machines is called the fast-track machines as it is the only pieces of Pilates equipment that produces such fast reasons. 

The reformer machines versatility enables a wide range of different exercises and intensity levels to be performed in a variety of positions; such as lying down on your front, side and back, upside down, sitting and standing position.

However, it is very important that people using the reformer machine are qualified or instructed by a qualified person to ensure that exercises are performed safely and correctly. 


Benefits of Reformer Pilates Exercise

Reformer Pilates offers a wide range of benefits for people of all ages and fitness levels. These benefits include increased strength, improved flexibility, improvements to posture, reduced stress and better co-ordination.

Mat Pilates classes sometimes use aids such as; resistance bands, Pilates balls, light weights, Swiss balls or the Pilates rings to increase range of movement, add resistances, help support the body or maintain correct alignment whilst a person is performing the exercises.

Mat Pilates is an effective way to improve posture, increase flexibility, and reduce the risk of injury.

Pilates ball: The Pilates ball is a small, inflatable ball that is used to add instability to mat Pilates exercises. The ball can be used to engage the core muscles and improve balance and stability.

Resistance bands: Resistance bands are elastic bands that are used to add resistance to mat Pilates exercises. The bands can be used to engage the muscles of the arms, legs, and core, and they can help to improve muscle tone and strength.

Foam roller: The foam roller is a long, cylindrical foam tube that is used to massage the muscles and improve flexibility. The foam roller can be used to target specific muscles and help to release tension and improve range of motion.
